The legend of Cinzio and Corinzia and the fountain of eternal youth

The Belìce Valley is truly a magical place. Located between the provinces of Trapani and Agrigento, it tells fascinating and ancient stories such as the legend of Cinzio and Corinzia and the fountain of eternal youth. Legend has it, in fact, that in a very long time ago, two young shepherds, Cinzio and Corinthia, lived in the Hypsas Valley (today the Belìce Valley). The two young people decided one day to walk up the banks of the Belìce River until they reached its source. So they walked for days on the lush green slopes of the valley, through lush forests and wild olive trees, until they reached a place where time seemed to stand still. Here the air was humid, hazy, the spring gave off hot fumes and the water gushed without ever stopping. The two young men then decided to camp in a cave near the spring, spending their time bathing in the hot water and performing sacred rites in honour of the goddess Aphrodite. The years passed and the two young men never grew old or ill. They had become immortal. Near the spring, the first settlement was later founded, which gave life to the town of Montevago, and since then, one hears of the two young men who still invoke Aphrodite in the night.

Is it also thanks to the fountain of eternal youth, as well as its richness in polyphenols, that our oil is a true elixir of life? Tasting is believing!
